Easter at the Ranch

Meme and McKenzie in Cuero

Ready to watch Landon at the annual Goliad egg hunt :)

being silly

McKenzie was far to interested in the bubbles in the basket to look at me for a picture!

Look at that BIG bass!

eeewwww, playing with a dead snake

determined to get into the pinata

McKenzie missed the memo that she was supposed to have cowgirl boots on ;)

even the youngest is not spared in the confetti egg fight

Daisy got in on the action too!

Beautiful moon

The Easter Bunny found the kiddos in Goliad!

Landon and Rylen

sweet McKenzie

hunting eggs ranch style :)

Little Miss Rylen

checking out his loot

Meme acting like a buck and Landon is the hunter...she is such a good sport!

One last catch before we left to come back home!

Landon won the Cousin Fishing Tournament for the 3rd year in row!  Way to go Landon!

Every Easter we have a Cousin Reunion.  It has been held in various locations but since 1998 it has been at my parent's place in Goliad.  Every Friday we head to Cuero to shop at the little store/boutiques, we eat lunch at Rosie's and then we make one last grocery run at HEB.  Friday night we went to the LaPaHa Ranch and and had burgers, hotdogs and smores!  All the kids enjoyed fishing in the pond.  We left right after it got dark because the mosquitos started to emerge!  Thanks for having us VK's!  Saturday morning we got the kiddos to Goliad for the annual egg hunt that is always followed with a little more shopping and a snack at The Blue Quail (They have the BEST cream of jalapeno soup!)  We did not stay in town long because I had to get Landon back so he could start fishing...he had a title to defend!  He ended up winning the the tournament with a 16 inch large mouth bass!  He caught several but that was the biggest of the day!  He will tell you that he, "casted, hooked it and reeled it in all by myself!"  We are so very proud of our fisherman!  We also enjoy a great lunch with the entire family, had a confetti egg fight, destroyed a pinata, and ended the evening with some awesome grilled shrimp!  This was McKenzie's first time at the ranch and her first Easter...she was definitely a trooper!

So glad we have this every year.  I enjoy seeing our extended family members and I am glad our children will grow up knowing all of their cousins!

Nascar with Dad and Papa

Papa, Landon and Brian

Building Landon's favorite car...the M&M car!

Landon says "Dinoco Blue!"
Fun times at the NASCAR Hall of Fame
You race each other by spinning the wheels which turn
a generator to power the car.  One of Landon's favorites!
Brian thinks someone was watching because Landon always
won no matter which car he had or how hard Papa or Brian
tried! :)

Saturday Truck Race

The actual pace car for the NASCAR race on Sunday.
They had two of them and used them both in the race.

They found the Mountain Dew car for Dad!

Our lil' race car driver!

Car haulers parked in the infield.

Brian, Landon and Papa (Brian's Dad) headed to Virginia/North Carolina to watch a truck race, the Nascar race and tour car building shops, and they even visited the Nascar Hall of Fame!  Landon loved all the "actvities" at the Hall of Fame!  Landon was even given a couple of real lug nuts that were on actual race cars.  He thinks they are pretty neat!  They got to see how the cars are built from the engine up! I think this was a good "boys" trip and they must have had a blast because I am still hearing stories about it!

Date with my Knight!

Chick-fil-A sponsored a Mother-Son Date Knight!  I made reservations with my little knight.  It just happened to fall on the same night as his first t-ball game so we headed over right after his game!  They transformed one area into a "castle" with brick wall covering.  They served us at our tables and gave each knight a goody bag and each mom a flower.  After we were done eating our meal, we were invited to the sundae bar.  Landon loved choosing all his special toppings!  I let him play for a bit and then it was time to go home and get some sleep since he had preschool the next day!  He really enjoyed the evening and he keeps asking when we can do it again.  Love making memories with my lil' guy!

Take me out to the ball game...

Ready for his first game...the jerseys were not in yet, so he wore one with his team colors!

Waiting on his turn to bat!

Love his face in this one :)

Priceless Smile!!!
My friend, Kristin took this one and the one below.  Thanks Kristin!

Love the look of deep concentration.

My friend, Stephanie, took this one and the ones below! Thanks Steph!

Our lil' ball player!

pure sweetness :)

He has his glove up and ready to catch a ball!

Landon began his first season of T-Ball this month and he LOVES it!  He is on the Texas Rangers Team with some of his friends.  He enjoyed his position as a short stop during his first game and he really focuses on the ball when it is his turn to bat.  He looks forward to each practice and game!  If this excitement continues I may very well be that mom that lives at the baseball fields when he gets a bit older!  And if this is his passion, I would not have it any other way!

McKenzie is 5 months old...

Looks like you are saying, "Yeah!"

sweet grin

sportin' your baby legs

McKenzie you...
- giggled for the 1st time on March 10th!  It is such a sweet sound!
- took your 1st road trip to Meme and Pa's in Port Isabel.  You were amazing on the trip there and back!
- take a bottle now!
- are waking up a lot less at night and sometimes not at all!
- are always moving...strangers even comment how much you kick your legs and wiggle while we are out and about.
- will only drink from a bottle if the milk is just the right temperature!
- play with your hair.
- roll all over the place.
- grab everything you can get your hands on and take it straight to your mouth!
- are super smiley!
