Hippity Hop Races

"Offshore" fishing ~ Reeling in a BIG marlin.  This was actually  pretty hard event!

Landon has fished in the Texas International Fishing Tournament the last 3 years.  Each year they kick off the tournament with a playday for the kiddos.  This was the first year that he was old enough to get the most out of all the activities.  They had jump houses and a HUGE inflatable slide but the best for him were all the fishing events.  There was a stocked catfish tank, a fishing simulator, an offshore fishing station (he reeled in a "marlin" with a real offshore rod and reel) and a mullet relay!  So fun...he is obsessed with fishing and was in complete heaven doing all of this!

Later that day we headed to my Dad's and brother's ranch.  Landon thought he was big stuff riding in the back of the "ranch" vehicle.  Thanks for the tour Pa!

Landon and I went down to my parents for a week.  The weather was perfect...we enjoyed swimming, beach time, Landon did LOTS of fishing and we also ate some great south Texas food!  This was Daisy's first time to go to the beach and she loved it as well!  My parents had tickets to Schlitterbahn, so we went there one of the days...I hid it from Landon as long as possible and now he is in the know and thinks we need a season pass to that one too!  Sorry buddy, that is not happening!  Landon went on his daily golf cart rides with my dad...they drink chocolate milk every morning on their ride!  We had a good time and never seem to get everything in, but there is always next time.  Love making fun memories with my lil' guy!

Could a day be any better for Landon...he started off the morning at Vacation Bible School which he LOVES, had lunch at Chick-fil-A with his friend Mattie, got to be Daisy's personal chew toy (okay, so that may not be his favorite ;)), met new friends at the ski lodge, ate his favorite meal of peanut butter and jelly and ended the day with this "HUGE" catch!  He continued telling us how "huuuuge" the fish was!  He generally catches small perch at Lake McQueeney, so this was a BIG and pleasant surprise for our lil' guy!

Landon is really into car racing right now, since watching Cars 2 at the theater.  He loves how fast they go and as bad as it sounds, he loves when they crash...must be a boy thing!  Brian found out about some races going on in Kyle, so the two of them went for a little Daddy/Son bonding time!  Landon LOVED it and cannot wait to go back.  We have a cousin on my mom's side, named Levi, that races and he happened to be there that night.  Landon got to sit in his car, buckle up and pretend drive.  He also got to write his name on another driver's tire for good luck!  He cannot stop talking about all the fun he had!

My brother comes up every year for a conference in San Antonio, and we try to go to his hotel and see him while he is here.  This year my SIL, Lauren and niece, Rylen came too!  It was great for us to all be together.  The hotel had some amazing pools, a kiddie area, lazy river and tube rides.  Uncle Ryan and Aunt Lauren took Landon down the tube rides again and again and again!  Sure made Landon happy!  Landon and Rylen had a good time playing and being silly together.  They were both so worn out by the end of the second day that they took a long nap on the lawn chairs by the pool.  Always nice to hang out with the family! :)

We enjoyed celebrating Independence Day in our little town this year.  They put on an annual parade that I LOVE...it is just the right length so noone gets too hot or bored and they throw candy to the kiddos!  Landon enjoyed getting a flag, beads and candy!  We do steer clear of all "touristy" things because it is just too crowded but we did head to Lake McQueeney and enjoy grilled burgers on the lake, lots of swimming and an awesome firework show!  Fireworks were banned all around but the Ski Lodge obtained a permit since they shoot them off over the lake!  We had a fun weekend with family and friends!

It Rained!

We are expriencing a severe drought here in our part of Texas this summer, BUT last week we finally had rain!  It started about 2 in the morning and was still going strong when we all got up for the day.  Landon ran to the door and asked if he could go get his swimsuit on and go play in the rain.  Since it was not storming out we said, "Go for it!"  He got a little chilly so we had to break out the rain coat...at least he got a little more use out of it!

We have spent most of the summer so far in water...pool, lake, springs, etc.!  It is the way to beat the heat and I love this time of year!  There is always somewhere fun to dip your toes into some refreshing body of water!

We finally had a FREE weekend so we took that opportunity and headed to Lake Bastrop to go camping!  As soon as we got there Landon hopped out of the car and said, "Let's go on an adventure!"  We went on a lot of adventures while we were there and he saw real animals and then made up great stories about other animals he supposedly saw while he was in the woods!  He did a lot of fishing but only caught some blue gill and a few perch.  To cool off from the heat we went swimming at the beach...they had an area at the park roped off and brought sand in to make it a nice place!
